Clearwater Tackle is owned and run by Dave and Heather Lander with Dave being an avid carp angler for 50 years. Here’s what Dave has to say:-
“I started fishing when I was 9 years old which is some 50 years ago now. I began with fishing for Minnows in the local park, soon moving to Brooklands Lakes in Dartford where I met a lot of budding Carp Anglers who got me started as a Carp Angler. This is back in the late 60’s early 70’s and Carp Fishing then was just in it’s infancy before Carp Alarms, Bed Chairs, Carbon Rods etc.
My first carp was from Brooklands Lake, a common of about 10lb and to me it was like winning the lottery and really started me Carp Fishing. I was spending up to 3 nights a week at the lake when money was tight and anything you wanted made you the best you could be.
Back in the 70’s, Dartford and District Angling gave a badge for a 20lb carp which at that time was a big fish. I would spend every spare minute at the lake and eventually I caught the carp and got my badge. I have carp fished ever since.
I opened Clearwater Aquatic in Erith, Kent some 25 years ago, changing it to Clearwater Tackle in 2001. Initially I just sold carp fishing tackle but soon branched out to make the shop a general fishing tackle shop by adding coarse and sea angling equipment.
Carp fishing is still my first love (not forgetting my very understanding wife Heather who has been supportive for 39 happy years). In 2003 we took the massive step of buying a lake in France called Lagune Lassi which is well stocked with carp to just under 60lbs and cats to ver 100lb. As well as spending as much time as we can over there looking after the place and fishing it, the lake is available to all anglers and more details about the lake and costs etc can be seen by going to our Carp Fishing Lake in France page.
